Smoothie Game Strong

When your smoothie is so pretty that it’s iPhone wallpaper worthy >> Yup, that’s this Unicorn Blue Smoothie Bowl in a nutshell. One time, a guy saw me checking my phone and goes “Is that food?” and I was like “Yep.” because there’s no shame in the game, especially when your smoothie bowl is essentially art! If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I love a good smoothie. There was a time in my life where I literally had a smoothie every morning after my run, and I felt SO good. I know that when it comes to smoothies, you can either take the “throw random stuff” in a blender mentality or actually follow a recipe. Either works for me, but I am going to include a few recipes in this post to hopefully inspire your next smoothie/smoothie bowl!

For me, making a smoothie look pretty is half the fun. I love seeing what colors I can make them! Last Summer I was super into Pink smoothies. I would always have pink nails, so my smoothie would match my nails and I would think that I had my life completely together… LOL. When I want a pink smoothie, I always use raspberries & bananas for a darker pink and strawberries and bananas for a lighter pink! I also include protein powder (vanilla) to make them fill me up a little more and also aid in recovery.

But over here at Healthywaysfordays HQ, even when we aren’t making a smoothie bowl look pretty, we make sure it tastes GOOD. That’s the case with this Peanut Butter Cup Smoothie- made with frozen bananas, peanut butter, and chocolate protein powder. It may not be the best looking, but WOW did it taste good! If you don’t have chocolate protein powder, you can use cocoa or cacao powder instead!

Think smoothie bowls are just for spring and summer? You thought wrong! Last Fall I took a spin on a classic dessert with a Pumpkin Pie Spice Smoothie Bowl! You can find the recipe on my blog under “Pumpkin Spice Smoothie Bowl”.

But of course, my all time favorite smoothie recipe is the classic frozen banana and frozen blueberry combo. You really can’t go wrong. This is pretty much the everyday smoothie for me, I love it because it tastes amazing with Chocolate & Vanilla protein powder! Yes, those are Grape Nuts in the picture above. No, I don’t want to talk about it. My roommates and I were trying to be “healthy” and we bought Grape Nuts and they were disgusting, but they look aesthetic!

At the end of the day, there’s no “wrong” way to do a smoothie bowl. Throw a bunch of toppings on there and call it a DAY. This bowl is the same as the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Smoothie earlier in this post, just in bowl form! Sometimes it’s fun to add all the toppings and the NUT BUTTER which is honestly my favorite part.

Lastly, I know I talked about protein a lot in this post. I don’t usually take supplements, but I do have protein powder in my smoothies to aid in recovery! I use a plant-based powder called Nuzest. If you’re interested in trying this out, my discount code is “Rachel15”! I prefer their Clean Lean Protein in Chocolate & Vanilla. They have other flavors and other products, those are just the only ones I have tried and I love them!
